Seems like a D3/4 evolution which isn’t surprising. Will probably end up being a good vehicle but don’t think it’s worthy of the Defender nameplate. At least make it look somewhat like the original with modern underpinnings. MB did a great job of this with the new Gwagen

I read a big reason the G went IFS is automated steering.

I.e the straight axle components are too bulky to automate for blind spot lane change assistance.

So they basically did it for lazy idiots.

Agreed, i was hoping for a solid rear axle at least similar to what MB did, but what the hell.
