255/85/16 I see the Maxxis Bighorns and the BFGs, but looking for a more all terrain tire.
Then there is Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx,
Anybody find anything else I am missing? My truck is used more for family stuff than my previous RRC. I have 285/75s now in a mud tire but I do not need a full on M/T much anymore. If the goop is that thick I am more inclined to take a pass with the kids in the back.

Cooper S/T, not the MAXX is an AT and comes in that size

Cooper S/T MAXX is more like a hybrid mud/at like the GY Duratrac. I'd go with that if you want a downgrade from an MT. Once I moved back to the east coast, I hated the ATs. I'd def go with the MAXX if not wanting an MT.

The MAXX has a great looking tread pattern and the person i know with them really likes them. Its likely my next tire.

I liked the Duratrac a ton on my old RRC. MAXX is pretty much the same thinking.

I think you may be right, I like the looks of the pattern for what I want to do. We have a Cooper dealer just up the road so I may check with them this week.

I just got a set of 255/85 bighorns and love them. They really aren't that loud on the highway. They remind me of Treadwright Guard dog retreads. Really a great all around and probably the only one in load rating D in that size. They are sort of an A/T M/T hybrid. I highly recommend them for that size. Try onlinetires.com. I got 5 shipped for $900. Great deal.

never mind on the discontinued. found this...

"The reason for the stop in production is so our plants could start including the European stamp of approval on the sidewall of the tires. That stamp simply makes the tires legal to use in the United States as well as Europe. This will be the only difference between the two KM2's as they will be made and look the same (plus the ECE symbol).

local Cooper dealer quoted me about 5 days to get them. Not bad given the odd tire size, and they were within a dollar of the online prices after figuring shipping. Will post up when I get them ordered. the only others they mentioned in that size were the Toyos at 300+ a tire. I put maybe 1500 miles on this truck a year now with a daily driver so that was a bit of overkill.

more Mud tire than I need, I have Maxxis on the truck now and will keep them as well. I have two sets of wheels so these will see most of the use.
