Normally I won't get excited about these three words together....but the new GM Hummer EV has me a little tingly.

We'll know a little more shortly. But sounds like another off-road lifestyle vehicle to compete with the Jeep and Bronco lineup.

Isn’t that essentially “torque potential” at zero RPMs?

That's something idiotic that has no real comparison to torque ratings of other vehicles - maybe with the exception of torque at driven wheels.
By this metric, it handily beats my Classic and D1 that are close to 4800 lb-ft (in high range), but they make up the lost ground in low range (~11300 lb-ft).

If you haven't been in an electric vehicle it's something different. My daughter picked me up from the airport in Dallas last fall in her Tesla and merging onto the freeway was way cool. It is just instant power right now.

This is my “instant” power car:
zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds
zero to 124 mph in 8.9 seconds
top speed of 205 mph
In stock form. Daily driver friendly.
With skid pad near 1.10 g
Gas powered

Now back to Hummer

No story huh? I like the one that starts with some kid getting scouted for his pitching arm and decided to stay in his home town and cut grass. Just not enough money in sports. I almost believed that one.
