I am about to put a GEMS 46D motor into my Disco 2 manual shift. Its from a 97 RR and 9.35:1 compression. Lovingly looked after and done a genuine 12,000 miles...
I know i need to replace cam sprocket and muck around a little to get my crank angle sensor to mount on it and change to my knock sensors. Of course my Thor plenum and injectors etc go on. I may use my near new Crane stage 2 LPG towing cam which suited both 4.0 and 4.6 litre. What about heads? Was there a difference between gems heads for a 97 and thor heads for the 4.0?
I had my 4.0 heads reconditioned about 30k miles ago and had them port matched...valves stock.. Now toying over whether to use them on the 4.6 but would not bother if the 4.6 ran bigger valves or widened ports as standard.
im not going to dismantle and re sleeve with top hat liners.

Ps. With my cam and 5 speed manual this baby should honk on both LPG and Petrol and have plenty of torque for towing the boat.
