Hey Folks! Happy Easter if that applies to you.

Ok, so after pretty much taking the winter off from Rover projects I am getting back to work on my '95 Disco's. So, I searched and couldn't find a previous thread about this. Anybody ever replaced the factory instrument cluster with VDO speedo, tach, and fuel level gauge?

D1 instrument clusters are pretty common and easy to swap. I think I'd go that route before fitting some aftermarket thing.

What are the junk gauges doing or not doing?

The ribbon printed circuit cables and the plug terminals on the wire harness side are failing. speedo comes and goes, same with the temp gauge. I have several factory clusters, speedo comes and goes with all three. VSS is new as is the plug, wires ohm fine up to the back side of the plug. The instrument cluster has been in and out of this truck a bunch. The wire harness plugs weren't designed for plug-in and un-plug over and over.

I just had my auto trans speed sensor replaced. That error code is now gone. Speedo and odometer do not work, but the gear selector portion on the instrument cluster still works. Bad connection at Slabs ECU? cable?
