95 D1 - should it lock up tyres with full leg pressure at 38 -50 miles an hour?

...mine does not. New rotors and pads (same as Ive always used) and 8 month old new master cylider. The vac booster holds vacume after turning off the truck - for 2 and a half presses of the pedal then goes hard. It feels pretty normal to me using it on the road, but this truck since I have had - 5 years - has never had agressive brakes and no where near as good as my 02 D2.

Any ideas? Has anyone actuall tried to lock the tyres with max breaking on sealed bitumen roads at 38-50 miles per hour who can help out? Could I have a slack vacuum booster?

Thanks all

when you first get in and turn the ignition on, does an yellow "ABS" light come on in the gauge cluster? If so, you have "Anti-Lock Brakes" You would need to disable the system in order to get it to lock up when you stand on the brake pedal

You obviously do not have a Land Rover. Discoveries have a light that says anti-lock, not ABS.

Sorry fellas:p Its my fault. In Australia the 95 didnt have ABS - came out here in 96. I have a non-abs Disco. Good grippy 30 inch tyres on standard suspension (albeit slightly stiffer shockies). The roads that I was trying it on are coarse chipped bitumen roads and I reckon the Pirrelli Scorpians might well be digging lugs in to the chipp holes which might be part of why she doesnt lock. Stops quickly but just cannot lock up.

So...same question but non abs braking system!

Cheers and thanks again all.
