97 D1 4.0 thermostat gasket alternative?

Replaced the thermostat housing gasket months ago with an OEM Land Rover gasket. It’s been slightly leaking since.

I ordered a new gasket almost 2 weeks ago, and it still hasn’t shipped. None of the local parts stores can get a gasket. Before I ordered another online, is there a gasket that would work from another vehicle?

I just did that for the IAC gasket. The OEM gasket is firm and has a seal on it? I’m afraid a homemade one will just leak again

I used Permatex Red.
In another car years ago I was in a pinch and used a milk carton. It lasted for years.

It looks like permatex makes a waterpump/thermostat housing RTV. I’ll give that a shot without a gasket today….
