97 D1 - exhaust noise

After replacing my transfer case, I've notice that my engine has louder, more throaty sound. My suspicion was that when I put the y-pipe back on, it didn't seal tight. I did not replace the exhaust manifold gaskets with new ones. Last night, I crawled under the truck while it was running, and confirmed that exhaust is escaping from the drivers side at the front connection point. Would a simple gasket replacement solve this? Or is it possible that I bent or damaged the coupling?

Thanks!

Did you bolt y pipe to engine then attach muffler? If not might just be improperly seated

I don't honestly remember which order, but I'm pretty sure it was y pipe first, then coupler to the muffler. I went ahead and ordered new gaskets and will attempt to re-attach the y pipe. Thanks for the tip!

Next up, O2 sensors!

Piggybacking on this:

Last week I did the seafoam treatment. I noticed when it was sucking the seafoam in while running that I was blowing smoke from where the manifold attaches to the exhaust.

After it cooled I was able to get in there and each of the three bolts tightened somewhat. I'm not sure if that fixed the issue because with the fan running and all that I can't feel if it's blowing out.

I ordered new gaskets and plan on putting a little more seafoam through and see if it is still leaking.

If it is - is replacement pretty straightforward? I guess I'm ahead if my bolts will actually turn, do I just losen them, remove the old gasket and slip the new one in? 1 person job?

I ordered this: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/ETC4524

Last time I did this on a vehicle it had more of a round compression ring thing that seated in there - this is all there is?

Thanks

get new bolts and clean the threads in the heads with a tap......and if you havent already figured it out ....yes....the manifold bolts are 3/8 standard thread....even though the original bolts had a 12 point metric head the bolt threads are standard (old buick LOL)
