The kick-down cable could be disconnected at the transmission side or the throttle side or both. Or it just snapped.
To fix it yourownself, you need to download the RAVE manual. Search the interwebs for RAVE manual enlightenment and free download,
It's probably somewhere on this site...somewhere.
But it's probably just disconnected - best case.
Could be the tranny if it hasn't been looked after properly, but even then, ZF makes very good trannys. Not bullet proof but close.
What are the details on your rig - year, service history (if you know it), etc.

Good Luck

Someone needs to write "Zen and the Art of Land Rover Repair", becuase many young punks who used to own VW's now own some form of Rover. It was a famous book when Bugs were still a fairly common sight, and much more readable than the RAVE manual.

Well OK, I don't know about "many", but at least a few.

I work on a lot of Italian cars from the 60s - 80s. By comparison to those service manuals Rave is a Pulitzer Prize winning work. I especially like the numbered steps matching in the diagrams.

Italian shop manuals are more like suggestions based on one example of the car, typically a pre production model, then translated to the King’s by someone who speaks neither English nor Italian. It’s fun.

Would like to thank everybody for there expertise... kickdown Cable was dry and looped under the cruise module.... sprayed the cable and worked it back and forth.... now it flawless... thank you, thank you!
Bob's your uncle.

Nice truck, btw. Keep an eye out for any signs of rust on the frame, esp. the rear quarter and treat immediately.
