Hello all,
My name is Darrell, and I'm with Platinum Motor Sports. Fortunately I have a few friends in the Land Rover world that keep me in the know as I was not registered on any Land Rover forums. Until now as I have become aware that it needs to now happen to save my character as not only an enthusiast of Land Rovers but a human being.
Let me start of by sincerely apologizing for this happening to you as it was actually not myself or Nathan that did the work on your abs system. Although we are responsible and are quite aware of that and do take full responsibility for it. I remember you quite clearly. So please read on and hopefully I can regain your trust as a customer but even more important to myself and Nathan, a fellow enthusiast as I explain our current situation.
I have done all of the mechanic work here at Platinum since about 2010 until about 2 years ago when I thought I would venture to California. So since I was leaving Nathan and I put a search out for mechanics to take my place. We found someone and his name is Brad. I didnt stay in California long as I realized I like being here and I have an obsession with Land Rovers. So Nathan asked me to come back and help him with other aspects of the business not being a mechanic as it can be exhausting but selling cars and marketing bumpers and off road accessories. Plus we already had a new mechanic, Brad.
So Ill try to keep this short and to the point. Brad is no longer with us as of spring of this year because of well let me just name a few of the things I have had to redo for our customers free of charge to regain their trust. As I would happily do for you if you would have called and yelled at me. As you have probably guessed I am now back to doing all of the mechanic work and proud to be doing so along with all of the other things I am now involved in here. A few things that our previous mechanic did: I found a rag under an intake manifold gasket that he left in there, I have found intake manifold gaskets with no end seals, coil packs on D2's not bolted down, had to redo a rear main seal that he f**ked up on an engine job, About to rebuld an engine with top hat liners that he put together wrong, we had a customer while he still worked here that he installed a rear diff in an LR3 and forgot to torque the axle nuts and the customer was driving down the road with HIS kids when the rear of the truck started to sway back and forth on the road so the customer took it to another Land Rover repair shop to get it fixed and sent us the bill which Brad was forced to pay and didn't understand why he had to pay it. I personally went to the shop to inspect the damage. Embarrassing but I represent Platinum Motor Sports and took responsibility for it and his incompetent a**. And not to mention our favorite slip up of not torquing lug nuts. And now your D1.
But just so I'm clear I don't want you or anybody else to think that I'm saying that I'm not responsible, I fully accept full responsibility for your negative experience. I should have checked his work. And I wish I would have. My mother has a 93 Range Rover LWB and she had tires rotated somewhere and they only hand tightened the lugs on one wheel. She almost had a wreck. I wanted to go down there and strangle somebody. But instead I just rotate her tires now. Instead of Brad F*cking up customer cars we decided that I would just bust my a** and do it all myself. In other words what I'm saying is I am now doing all of the Mechanic work here and I work on all Land Rovers as if they were my mothers. I understand your feeling of your Rover being tainted and I would like nothing more than to untaint it. I would love to help you in any way possible if you just contact me. If not, I understand. But I just want you to know that I deeply apologize. I communicated with you on the phone but unfortunately did not do the work. It was a simple task and Brad told me all was good so I was just happy to get your truck back to you.
If I never see you again I hope that you enjoy your Land Rover as I enjoy mine as well as fixing peoples Land Rovers so we can keep them alive and on the road and members of our families full of adventures and memories. And if it gives you or anybody else any peace of mind, if I ever see Brad I'm going to personally ring his neck for all of the agony he has put me through over the past months and I will ring his neck a second time just for you. This will never happen again.
Darrell
