So, I hop in the truck this afternoon and after about five minutes, I hear three beeps and the ABS, TC, and HDC lights come on. I pull over, cut it off, wait a second, and then start it up again. They go off, BUT come back on about five minutes later.

Any thoughts as to what this could be? I noticed no change in the driving manners when the lights came on.

The "Service Engine Soon" light has been on since I've had it. It also has somewhat of a rough idle.

Any thoughts or troubleshooting ideas appreciated.

It's a running joke about one of the other rover forums. It's probably a SLABS issue. Google D2 SLABS repair or D2 shuttle valve. Or search it here.

Ahh yes. Now I see why you sent me a PM to get you in touch with discomike.

No.

Disco mike is a tool, he is a piece of shit.

Get your codes read, it's likely a shuttle valve failure but could also be an abs sensor. You need someone that can read ABS codes like a T4 setup or hawkeye.

Just went to Autozone to have the codes pulled. Also, drove to pick my daughter up from cheer. None of the lights came on....weird.

However, there were four codes thrown:

  1. P0154 - o2 sensor, bank 2, sensor 1, no activity
  2. P0175 - bank 2 system too lean
  3. P0137 - circuit low voltage, bank 1, sensor 2
  4. P1174 - no DTC definition found
The Autozone "professional" said it was the o2 sensor, no shit. He also said the catalytic converter was probably clogged up. I don't know about that.

Thoughts?

Thanks again for the continued help.

Non of those are ABS faults. A generic code reader will not read ABS codes on a Land Rover. The reason the lights are only on sometimes is because it is an intermittent fault.

when you replace your o2 sensors, make sure you check for oil in the connectors. if you find some, clean it out, thoroughly. fix the oil "issue" to prevent future problems OR say screw it and "oil proof" said connector from getting oil in it anymore.

be a good man. and thorough.

yoface13,

It does have an oil leak, but hell, what LR doesn't? I will replace the o2 because it obviously needs it.

Any thoughts as to what the P1174 code references? The ABS issue(s) that only the other readers will pick up?

You have two different issues: The three amigos (ABS, HDC, TC) relate to the ABS. It is usually a sensor or the shuttle valve. Get those codes read (need a specialized code reader, not at AutoZone, etc.); either by buying/borrowing the ABS Amigo, another code reader (see below) or at a mechanic/dealer that has the appropriate reader.

The CEL is what you pulled at AutoZone. Search this site for how to deal with those.

A side note: If you are working on your own cars, I highly recommend the Autel 619. It reads ABS, SRS (air bags) as well as engine codes (OBD II) for ALL makes/models. And it's only $130. You can get just the ABS Amigo for $100 used.

I got it a few months ago and sold my ABS Amigo ($100) and my BMW SRS tool ($50). The Autel works on the Yukon, BMW Z3, Disco and the wife's VW (before she wrecked it).

Mine don't leak...it's not hard to have them not leak...

unfortunately, i have some leakage/seepage. but my pre-cat passenger o2 sensor is sealed up tight now. did you look at that one yet? man, it's so full of oil.

i haven't messed with the other fancy scanners, but the hawkeye is great.
