Air blowing from floor vents (and face vents) when face vents selected - 01 D2

G'day gents,

The only way I can get the air flow from the floor vents to stop is by selecting the windscreen setting. If I have the face setting only it still blows a lot of air from the floor vents. The problem is that is significantly reduces the air flow from the face vents on hot days. I've hopped under where the dash opens on the drivers side and can't see anything obvious with the travel of the control levers...any ideas appreciated.

The blend door motors are behind the glove box.
