Didn't find anything unique to this situation. Maybe someone can help.

Currently my 98 Disco is sitting on the side of the road dead. The key cylinder on the driver door goes side to side with no resistance. I made the mistake of unlocking from pass side, which is f'ing stupid because I know better and now the alarm is activated, won't turn off.

I've tried locking and unlocking driver door manually (3x) with door open to activate switch with no luck. Battery terminals have been disconnected however upon reconnection, the alarm fires up again. I don't have a key fob either. Obviously with alarm engaged, starter doesn't engage.

What's the easiest way to get the alarm disabled and get this back to my garage?

Get inside, close the doors, and manually move the driver side door lock pushbutton down and up (with battery connected, of course).

Didn't work.

As soon as I put on negative terminal, alarm goes off. Got inside, all doors closed. Pulled up and down and drivers side door lock (all door locks go up and down) but alarm continues to go off. Did it a few times.

Any other ideas?

Pull your grill, disconnect your horn so you can hear yourself think. I pulled the drivers door panel and removed the exterior door handle. There is a tiny microswitch that is responsible for arming and disarming the alarm. I cut the switch out and connected the common and disarm wires together. I insulated the arm wire. You will not have an alarm but you can use the key to open any door you like after that. I also never had a key fob for it. I have about two years on this mod without any problems so far. I just find alarms to be useless and annoying mostly but keyless entry can spoil you. Good luck with it and don’t forget to reconnect your horns when you are done.

Try connecting the battery with key on. If that doesn’t work your going to need to get in the driver door and activate the switch that should be attached to the back of the lock cylinder

Did you try the emergency key access code? Even though you’re not feeling any resistance in the driver’s door lock, it’s possible the key code method may still work.

Thanks guys. All good advice. Was able to get the vehicle towed to a secured lot where it can sit until I can get to it this weekend.
