My only advice is to stay with a small company where you feel like family but when you start to grow and become a target get out before the merger. Thats when it really gets ugly I leave behind people I hired and worked for me several years one man 18yrs. How productive can a work force be wondering from day to day who's next ?

I suffered from "your position is being eliminated" after 9 years in the same chair back on January 2. Aside from the loss of a fat bi-weekly paycheck, it's the best thing that ever happened to me. Money ain't everything.

Sorry to hear that George. It's nearly always difficult, but I can only imagine how it makes you feel after being there so long.

x2

I got laidoff almost 6 years ago from the telecom job I had at C&W.. For two years before that we had monthly meetings to find out if it was going to be our turn to get it.. Needless to say not much work was getting done and people were nervous wrecks.

Hardest thing I had to do was tell my friends that I had working under me that they had to go. After that I pretty much asked to be short tracked out of there.

Now I'm a short order pancake chef.. Well, not really, but, it sounds better then stay-at-home dad. :D

Thanks for all your concerns and idea's

I'm over it now and just fortunate that in the past my lifestyle was not motivated by keeping up with the Jones. It's funny but my Rover habits might be the most costly.

Looking forward to taking a little time off and get some things done around the house and getting that diesel seires up and running.

Sure would be nice if the 401K penalty free plan would pass !!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. My wife has the distinction of being laid off twice within this last week. I think it's a record. (One was her part time job and the other was her clothing store which she closed down after nearly 3 years.)
