Anti-Lock Light On

I removed the fuse in the engine compartment months ago to disable the ABS. Brakes work fine. However I have to have my truck inspected in this stupid state and the inspection station wouldn't touch it with the light on. I forgot about the fuse until then so I went and put it back in, drove it around thinking once I got to 5 mph it would go out.

Except it didn't. Still hasn't. I've put it through about 10 drive cycles hoping it would clear but it won't. The inspection station put a code reader on to see if there were any codes - and there aren't any. Seems stupid to me they can't then see there are no issues but it's a no go.

I realize I can get into the dash and just pull the bulb, but I'm wondering why it won't go out when there are no codes being thrown.

Before pulling the fuse the light would always go out after driving.

I found a .pdf of the jumping the pins test so I'm going to try that and see if I can't grab any codes it has stored.

I know I have a "rough road line low fault" that reoccurs. I have sensors to put in but was hoping to not do them until I replace the MC and the power assist canister and new rotors and calipers since you have to pull the hard lines to replace sensors.

Which sensors are you talking about? I replaced my D1 front ABS sensors a few months ago and it took about 5 minutes. No hard line tinkering involved. If you search the tech forum here you'll find a thread about some inexpensive sensors on ebay that a handful of folks tried out with good results.

Hmm - I was going to put in new front sensors (I've had them for months) a few weeks ago, but when I went to remove the old fronts they hit the hard line.

You know what I just remembered? I have Defender 110 front calipers on my Disco. The configuration of the hard line is different. So it is possible we are both right - my sensors were a breeze to swap out and yours may require removal of the hard lines first. It's been a while, I don't remember how the D1 stock calipers look. On the bright side, if you do have to remove your hard lines it's quickly done with an 11mm flare wrench (assuming the hardware is clean) and gives you a good excuse to bleed the brake system while you're at it.
