Anyone have a review for the Atlantic British long or short block engines?

Flex plate bolts are out. I think the bottom moves, because it it only the oil pan moving, I had the bolts loose. I forgot.
The top is getting the pulling force from the ratchet straps. I can't figure out how to get a straight pull forward, ac condenser in the way. I have wiggled it left and right, up and down. I have looked several times for any bolts I missed, I will look again, and try to figure out a way to pull it straight forward.

The engine is not as clean as it looks, I am covered in a lot of dirt and oil. I changed the water pump and valley pan a few months ago, so it got a little clean up then.
Thanks

use a floor jack to pick up on the tranny pan or bell housing. The front of the tranny wants to drop down when its not attached to the engine, so its probably in a bind on the dowels and the torque converter.

I tried a transmission jack under the transmission, then moving the engine up and down. No luck. I will get back to this tomorrow, it's hot out, and I'm tired.

Did you remove the bolts in the oil pan?
You should pull the pan off anyway, it makes it much easier. Mr. Tillery taught me that.

I removed the 2 bolts from the bell housing to the pan. I will pull the pan off tomorrow and see if it helps.

This may help double check you have all the sump bolts out. It definitely shouldn’t take offsetting ratchet straps to separate the two. Could you have a motor mount caught on something?

Nice clean engine bay!

I haven't had any trouble separating the bell from the engine. I'd bet there's one or two more bolts on top. Run your finger along the flange and count holes.

Did you get all four bolts on the flex plate too?
You are correct. I missed 2 bolts at the bottom of the bracket that mounts the O2 sensor connector. Next week I will try and figure out how to get them out. Thanks for the help.

This project was put on hold when my wife died 19 days ago. I got tired of sitting around being sad. Got the engine out this morning.

Normally I would avoid commenting on this because I never know what to say to make this tough time better. Losing love ones sucks. It does get better when you’re ready for that. I am sorry as well.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. My condolences to you. I'm sure many here feel the same, but, like 4Runner, don't know what to say in moments like this.
Thank you. It's the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. My mom died in August, and my wife dying is much more painful. I took a month off of work, so am trying to keep myself busy around the house to keep me distracted. Now I just have to wait for the new engine to be delivered. It should ship soon.

Now would be a great time to go thru your wiring harness and make sure your crank sensor/ O2 sensor wiring is good. My harness was good but lost all its protective covering. I chose to use hydraulic hose wrap instead of the traditional covering you can find in the store. I know you can order some heavy duty wire wrapping online.
