Best Bi-Directional OBD II Scanner for LR and Civilian Vehicles

Looking for a bi-directional scanner that will allow me to diagnose and reset the various LR functions as well as other non-Rover vehicles.
Trying to stay in the $500-$600 range.
Autel 906 series has gotten high praise but a little too pricey at $1200.
Recommendations?

Which model(s) do you want the scanner for? The answer will vary depending on the vehicle. For example, the Gap iiD tool is pretty capable and allows you lots of control over vehicle settings for most newer (i.e. independent suspension) models, but it isn't a good choice for the Discovery 1. Plus it's VIN locked, so to work on multiple vehicles you need to purchase additional licenses. Don't know about other makes, but it's great for Land Rover vehicles and less than half the price of the Autel you mentioned. So maybe not what you're looking for, but a good option within the Rover stable.

The Autel MS906 is what I have. I’m pretty sure I paid just under $1000. I looked for a cable version because I figure I would lose the Bluetooth dongle. It’s a great scanner for the money. I can’t program smart keys but I can program the switchblade keys on LR3’s. It will run a lot of the outputs your looking for and then some.
It’s the bi directional that’s gonna cost you. The Autel was the best deal I could find to do what I need. But I haven’t been able to make it work on old Gems engine management.

Autel AP200 is $70 and has some bi-directional. It does keys and air suspension as well as some other stuff I haven't looked into.

Comes with 1 make for purchase price and $25 for each additional make.

Forgot to add, the reason it is so cheap is you need a smartphone to pair with.

I’ve been impressed with Autel stuff. It’s a Chinese company and they do a good job of duplicating the original menus screens you see when using JLR’s diag laptops.
It gets really confusing to figure out which one to buy. They also figured out how to separate out the functions so you pay more to get what you need. Like the programming of smart keys would have been available on it if I bought the one with a purple housing.

That’s awesome. I’m sneaking up on having one. Right now it’s getting the laptop hooked up to the docking station and into the interface thing that docs for the handheld. I have the newer software that runs on win7. Let me know if you need any of that
