I have a '96 D1 that I just put a 4.6 GEMS engine in from a P38 and recently had an engine light code. I took in the truck for local service at my mechanic here in Arizona and had a printout that showed the engine hitting 230F at idle w/ AC on. My radiator has been re-cored by PO and I am ordering an Allisport aluminum radiator to replace it to handle the increased heat output from the 4.6L. Meanwhile, the temps here are 100+ every day and I want to monitor the temps with an old iPhone and was looking for suggestions on the best reader that some of you are using. Thanks

I use TorquePro with an Android phone. I'm sure there is something comparable for the iPhone. I got a Bluetooth OBDII dongle off of Amazon for about $20. It works fine. I would avoid the $10 examples as they do not have a good reputation.

You can get an AT&T Go phone, full Android with GPS etc. for $50 at Wally World.

No contract, no additional cost, no nothing. Hard to beat. And if you want to, it's cheap (think $20 a month) to add it to your AT&T plan (assuming you have AT&T).

Not a salesman, but that's what I did/have.

For iPhone, you have to get a Wifi version of the dongle. Apple doesn't want you to tether to just any old bluetooth device, you know...

Paul,
I use the Torque pro app with bluetooth. I went with the cheap dongle a few years back and have had good luck with it.

If you're are using an Iphone you need to get the wifi adapter not bluetooth

iPhone here. I use app called OBD Fusion and a wifi dongle purchased on Amazon. The wifi messes with google maps however so I cannot use both apps simultaneously.
