Did we lose the Tech Section in the Great Migration? I can't find it.

I recall there was a write up in there about how to do the sewer cap mod? Maybe a long ago thread?

Why do you all insist on calling it a sewer cap? Nowhere in the world do they use domed caps, and suppliers wont know what you’re talking about when you try to order one

This is what Im trying next.
I bought two like this from roverware for $80 plus shipping. I had to remove some material to access the fill plug. The front pinion is tucked up and pretty well protected, the front axle housing cover is really all that needs protecting unless you're strolling through rock gardens.

Yeah, Im not excited that they decided to use something besides the 1/2" socket. I wasn't able to find an off the shelf one that did, but I also didn't look very long.

I didn't like the idea of having to carry a special hex socket just to remove the diff plug, so I reused the stock plug with a new bung. (Pic prior to welding everything up)

As long you're welding stuff on there, you could just use a plug or bolt that matches something else on the vehicle that you already carry.

Cheers,

Kennith

It's nice to have an external option, though, if that square drive gets fucked up.

Cheers,

Kennith
The square drive isn't going to get mucked up on the fill bung. The drain is the one that will get beat up due to its location, and that doesn't change with any of the diff guards.

Good mod, but I already put in the new ashcroft lockers and am not keen on taking them out again, haha. The tactical rovers should do the trick, hoping they protect the drain plug better than the Terrafirma's. If anyone is interested in my terrafirma guards, pm me. I'll include a super high-tech rattle dampener (piece of rubber sandwiched at the bottom)
