Does anybody have experience with Ferodo or TRW brake master cylinders? Are they any decent? Not sure if this is one of those Geniune-all-the-way parts or if there is something superior available from a third-party vendor.

I remember having a red box so I'm thinking I had the TRW BMC. I've had it installed on my D2 since 2016.
It has worked great even with the extended brake lines and used Pentosin Super Dot 4 brake fluid.

I just put in a new TRW master cylinder and pressure bled it with a Motive bleeder and it feels great. The TRW was 100% exactly the same as the original master cylinder I replaced. Even said Lucas on it like the original.

I got a TRW from Atlantic British and it did not have a reservoir either. The seals were there so I spent quite a bit of time cleaning up my old reservoir and reusing it.

I got my TRW master cylinder from Rimmers. LR Direct was out of stock. The photo showed it with a reservoir. It didn’t come with one, however. I contacted customer service and they sent me, free of charge, a genuine LR reservoir with seal kit included. They have since removed the photo from the listing. I do not think they (TRW) come with reservoirs any longer, regardless of the vendor.

By the way, I bought the TRW MC to replace another new off-brand one that failed rather quickly.. I tried to return it to LR Direct. The process to do that isnt worth the trouble. So, I used the reservoir that came with the off brand one on the TRW MC and saved the new LR one and kit for the next time.

Interesting.... the link I posted above is the page where i pushed the button to put it in my cart. Pretty sure that's a reservoir attached in the pic.

Thanks for the info.

My current reservoir is not leaking, so maybe I will try to reuse it while waiting for a replay from LRDirect. Can you tell me kind of how to actually get the old one off and then put it onto the new cylinder?

It just pulls off and pushes into the new seals. I think I used a giant screwdriver for a little leverage.

I just checked, LRD is out of stock in the TRW MC. They were out of stock when I needed one which led me Rimmers. After my experience with the aftermarket MCs, I will only buy TRW for the Disco or do a rebuild of an original.

So I'm finally getting a shot at installing this new master, and the instructions say/show no reservoir. However, they do say to fit an o-ring seal between the master and the booster......... which they do not supply.

So, now I'm sort of stuck.

What do others do for the o-ring?

Also, when installing the reservoir, do you pull the seals, put them on the reservoir, then install? Or do you press the reservoir onto the master with the seals in place?

Hope the o ring is ok and go look at it. Then re use it.

Put the seals in the master cylinder and push the reservoir into the seal. With some grease on it.

Don't mean to hijack but my MC has been leaking at the seals where the reservoir connects to the MC. Is this something where I can just pop off the reservoir and replace the seals or do I need to bleed the MC/brakes after replacing the seals?

I would think you should be able to take it off, reinstall, and refill. Just give it time for any air to rise to the top.

Define "great" in the same sentence which includes "D2" and "brakes".

I couldn't find the rear seal for the DI MC reservoir, I could only find the front one.

Audi uses the same seals. If you search you might be able to find the part #'s.
I don't need them anymore since I got a new MC but when i was looking I checked with the local Audi dealer and they only had the front as well. Since they were included in the new one someone must be making them but I couldn't find a replacement.
