brake pressure reducing valve

Hi there,

a friend of mine (his 110", resp.) suffers from a leaking valve. The one that sits in the engine bay on the r/h footwell and divides the brakelines into ones going to the front or rear.
He has a 110" with drum brakes rear.
Seems like this valve is a pressure-difference-warning-actuator - Thing. Should illuminate a warning light when on brake circuit fails/leaks. I think this is unnecessary, the later brake-fluid-level - warning thing on top of the brake master cylinders reservoir is the better option.

>> This valve is pretty expensive to replace anyway so question is whether a valve of a disc-brake-all-round-Defender (acceptable price) would do the job.
