Brake switch does not work after broken taillight

Backed into a tree yesterday up playing in the snow and drove a branch through my passenger taillight. It blew up the housing, shorting the flat wire connections to the body. I stopped to check it out and low and behold by brake switch would not let me shift out of park. I jumped it to get me home but also lost my left blinker. Could a short damage the brake switch (just replaced it last year) or am I looking for a blown fuse. The brake light fuse is fine

Thanx

Ditto. My guess is that the switch is fine but that there's a short that is continually blowing a fuse. Fix the short, then check fuses numer 1 and 2.

I checked it out yesterday after I posted and went after the 15 amp fuses and the first one I pulled fixed everything. I just unplugged the harness from the housing until I pick my new one tonight
