Here's a great article from awhile back that went around. Yahtzee !

BTW This is my project this week in Oregon. . Prior owner sealed the front with black goop which looks terrible a few years later on the roof btw. I'd be OK with the cosmetic issue, but it's now failed and leaking again. Sigh. Have 2 known good used roofs handy to play with. Fun.

It's way easier to to just remove it, clean it, and reseal the exterior plastic frame to roof, than sealing it shut. I had to clean PO mess of a fix. PO used silicone to seal it shut it will eventually leak since that is not the way to fix it. Just take the time and do it right it's not difficult and if you want to used it you can.

If you don’t want to deal with all the mess of silicone try some 3M electrical tape. Works great for windshield cowls too. Easy to replace if needed and a mess to clean up if you ever decide to fix the sunroofs. It really looks much better than you’d think too

My kid used Gorilla brand flex seal tape. It went on easy and is doing a great job.

I just pulled my headliner. It's the hardest part in this fix. My front sunroof would spill water into the headliner and then it would come out everywhere. Here's what I did and so far it's working great and my sunroofs work too.
1-pull head liner
2-cut the drain tube about halfway
3-drop the sunroof PAN (it's like 14 t-20 bolts plus the motor bolts (the motor will come too))
4-clean out the pan and all the junk
5-Silicone the inside joint between the pan and the drain thingy on the inside
6-silicone the outside joint of the drain and pan
7-reinstall the pan
8-silicone the pan
9-attach the motor
10-use a 10mm hose barb attachment thingy and zip tie the hoses to it
11-test
12-reinstall head liner

Question how hard is it to remove the headliner and do I need special tools.

It's not hard at all.

You just need 8mm & 10mm sockets for the lighting, a Phillips screwdriver (preferably powered), a small flathead to pop some covers and a trim removal tool to get all the rear fasteners.
