I see lots of options out there for D2 bumpers but very few and twice the price for the D1. How much difference is there between the models? I have seen a pic of a D1 bumper on a D2 but never vise versa. What would it take to Mount a D2 winch Bumper on a D1?

Well I contacted Atlantic British and they were less than helpful. I will just buy this $600 bumper and pray it fits while I rely on advise from the internet, lol....

I've heard that between Britpart and Bearmach, that Bearmach is a "better" brand.

If you go directly to the Bearmach website they have a few bumpers:

I chose this tube winch bumper which was on sale to see the total price with shipping:

With shipping and sales tax to Dallas, TX, the total came to $520.82, not too expensive. Not sure how long the shipping will actually take with customs, etc.

That looks like a good option. Do you have a pic of it on your rig? - Appreciate the info. Didnt know about that parts supplier.

Okay fellas the britpart D2 bumper fit with some trimming. Next question is this. Anyone ever hollow out the center of the factory brush guard and mount it to the top of a flat top bumper

I can't speak to that specific bumper, but I took a standard D1 brush guard and cut off the bottom and middle section to bolt it onto my stock winch plate instead of the A-bar. We cut 2 steel pieces to match the base and welded them on, pretty straight forward....

I literally did the same thing last night. I need to weld on the bottom mount plates and send it for powder coating. Looks great! Great minds!

I'm going to do that on my 99 TReK. It had the full brushguard in the competition but was sold with the A-bar. But I don't have the A-bar either

Looks pretty good....but the problem with those stock brush guards is that those "wings" going out left and right from the center A-frame portion make pretty long levers that put stress on the welds where they attach to the A-frame. If you hit anything with the outer brush guard wings those welds will snap and push the brush guard up into your hood and lights. Think about welding in a little reinforcement from the bottom of the outer wings down to the top of the steel bumper.

Sadly, I can attest to that...

Prior to that accident I bumped the wings on the steel support beam of an overhead parking shade structure and that thin metal snapped at the welds. Luckily I was in reverse and the wing just pulled forward about 6 inches. I had it rewelded.
