Center muffler options

On my trail truck (d2) i want to replace the crushed center muffler. What are my options? I don't want my truck to be disgustingly loud or I would just remove it altogether. Is there an option other than the stock muffler that I should consider?

When you say center muffler, are you talking about the muffler or the Y pipe that goes to the muffler?

Are you looking for more clearance, power, or just replace it with a used one from a junk yard?

On my P38 I have a Dynaflow which I got locally. It's much smaller than the original, so you may not crush it as easily. It's also considerably louder than the original, which I kind of like (it sounds like a V8), but it would be too noisy for some.

I went to a local Midas with my 110 a long time ago and just had them weld in a piece from an F-150 that someone had replaced with a magnaflo. It was cheap and easy. You might go to one to see if they have anything they can put on that is smaller or shaped different to avoid the am issue you’re having.

On a previous Discovery I just had a shop go straight pipe to the rear muffler resonator. It was not too much louder, but was an increase in noise as compared without. If it was a daily use vehicle I would have not done that because I find the exhaust sound above stock annoying. It was preferable to having a giant muffler hanging low and always getting snagged requiring some repair from leaks caused by abuse.

Do you still have the resonator? I got rid of my center muffler years ago and it's not obnoxiously loud. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper then any of the performance mufflers. I got mine from LR Direct a lot cheaper, even shipped then I could find in the US.
If you have to have a muffler, just go to the local muffler shop and have them throw something on.

I may try one of these on my D2:

Put one of their larger tubines on my 40' Diesle Pusher and it was fantastic. Barley louder, but much more better.

The more pricy version is Jones.

I've got a complete D2 used exhaust (center muffler back) . Or I can just get you the center muffler for a few bucks.

If you're wanting stock.

Otherwise, magnaflow
