Check engine

I have a buddy with a 94 defender and 85k mile on it. Recently the "check engine" light came on. What are some of the first things he should check. I replaced a couple of O2 sensors at 76k on my disco and told him this. Is there any othe place he should check?

by the way, you don't need an OBD reader or anything to check the ECU codes. There is a 2 digit LED attached to the ECU that you read the code off of....

lambda sensor = oxygen sensor

So I am the friend Peter-Man is referring to, I thought I'd go ahead an register myself here. Where on the ECU is the readout located? Does anyone have pics of where it is? I'll have a look myself tonight anyway.
TIA

Did you ever find it and the code?
Are there any other symptoms?

No, I haven't found the readout screen yet, but I haven't taken the ECU all the way out yet either. I have been asking in a few different places to see if they can offer some help. I emailed the people at the link that pugsly offered. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

As for other symptoms, I have noticed it doesn't quite have as much power as it used to, and I think that might be a result of the O2 sensor. But really nothing other than that.
I'll keep you posted.

Did you try the d-90 source as well? www.d-90.com
Chdeck under the passenger seat. Sorry I don't know exactly where it is on your truck. It'll be a black box about the size of a deck of cards. All black looking when the truck is off but if there is a CEL while on, then the box will show a code.

For reference, the OBD box and the ECU are two seperate things.
