I have noticed I have a clunk! When going 15 mph or so when I stab the gas I get a clunk and if I let off quickly I hear another clunk. Might be normal just thought I would ask. Par for couse I suppose.

Mine does it too if I run in drive. Usually I run it in 3rd until I hit about 35 then shift to drive. Seems to help the problem. Most people on here have mixed feelings about it. Some say its normal some say its not. I have checked my AT fluid and mine is full.

fluid is clean and right to the mark. I might go down and check my trans mount. Does this sound like a flexdisc issue? It looks ok.

Mine has done it ever since I got the truck. I just ride the truck with the gears and shift between 3rd and drive all the time. I would not worry about it.

Top of the rear diff bolted to an A frame. Put car on level ground handbrake off, box in neutral, lever off the diff with a crowbar, the slightest movement will cause noise. Most are worn by 100k km.

Eureka!! My D2 has a clunk from the rear that sorta sounds like a loose shock mount. hadn't had time to look into it but now I think i know where to start! We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread......

The front U-joint is not servicable (meaning it can't be greased) Over time the joint wears and begins to "clunk". As it wears it gets the slop factor. You really should have it looked at, a u-joint going out at speed will demolish your transmission. If that is the problem I would rebuild the joints with servicable parts. Good luck

Check your U-Joint. If it looks good then it could very well be your transfer box (which it sounds very much like). There's some slack in it and can be what you're hearing. As my truck has gotten older, you can now hear a bit of a clunk when getting on or off the gas. Others on here have noticed the same thing and it seems to be part of the aging process of LR's.

I've seen this in newer D2's as well and I noticed this too in a D110 I drove two days ago.

My rover does that every now and again. It usually does it when the engine is cold. Could it be from the idle speed? I was looking through the shop manual and says to check the ATF pressure (for "fierce shift or flare 1st to 2nd shift"). If that is normal to check the "modulator valve or dampers for clutch break CB1 and/or clutch break CB2". It also suggests to check both CB1 and CB2. Dont know that the hell it means but thats what it says. If the pressure is too high then it says that the "Primary regulator stuck" anyway if it helps cool if now just another suggestion to consider. :)
