I am thinking of getting Cometic MLS gaskets for my engine. It looks like you can order them in different thickness. Any advice on what I should get? They got 0.027, 0.030, 0.036, 0.040, 0.045 and 0.051.

Having built a lot of tuner cars most cometic gaskets are all steel and the thickness vary for the amount of compression you want to acheive. unless your going to turbo the engine and need lower compression ,just stick with OEM gaskets. Cometic MLS head gaskets can take more boost but most LR gaskets are coated and may seal coolant leaks better.

I don't believe you can/should use stretch bolts with mls gaskets. If you're going to use them, Use non-stretch bolts, or arp studs.

I am looking at Cometic gaskets as well so I emailed their tech support and here's what came back:

Hello,

It is very important that you use the torque specs from the stud or bolt
manufacturer. If you have OEM hardware you will use OEM specs if you have ARP hardware you will use ARP specs, etc.
