i never kept up with any of the BS. I never understood it though. you have a few private entities work together to put on, what i feel was, an excellent event w/o some of the overhead/hassles of a club environment and people will still find shit to complain about. I guess a lot of it was personal stuff? who knows.
Turnout always seemed to be decent, costs werent prohibitive (from a visitor standpoint) and they did it all while maintaining some level of order and semblance to the events of years past.

We've always gone to MAR, good people, food and trails. Conclave filled the hole for a few years but is also half the distance for me. Now MAR is back but even farther south. That and i really like the Cove.

Oh well, hopefully it'll return in the future in some form.

The Cove is a great spot. Expensive, comparatively, but a nice spot.

You either got to keep it small and personal, or go full flown Big Dogs style to make it work. The last few years were a combo of the two and it flopped.

It could have worked if everyone was open and honest. It looked good on paper, but when folks "sneak" in and don't pay their part to the organizers, it fails. It failed. Lots of dishonesty from the D-90 Source crowd.

I remember helping some jack ass get his full size new Chevy truck down a buggy trail.... Ahh, good times!

I believe that caper involved NVGs, a sabotaged generator, and glow sticks....

I think you're right. The smaller events tend to draw a more relaxed group and you wind up with that pearl's pond warm fuzzy feeling. Not that there's anything wrong with the big events, they can be just as, if not more, fun.

You try to keep it low key and end up with a few douche canoes that can quickly ruin the experience. What a shame.

Go back to the good ole small group. Big huge tent awning, Private chef and off course, chili dinner on the floating shack due to the rain. The topper: Dan spending much time in the shitter :applause:
