As of September 2017 I work for our local utility and as so deemed essential. As long as the security on my computer lets me I can work from home. Managers have encouraged everyone to work from home; most have. I work in the Gas Transmission Engnering department. As a Geologist they don’t know what to do with me so I keep myself busy looking for upside in increasing gas storage potential. Wife works for the University, they sent everyone home weeks ago while the kids where on spring break. Needless to say she is working from home. Went to the bank today to keep my house for another month and had to use the drive up teller. I don’t like using them, would rather talk face to face and watch them count the money. I guess this will be the new normal for awhile. Traffic was a noticeably lighter; we don’t have many confirmed cases here....yet. The biggest upside to work from home is I have about an extra hour in my day from not commuting. Down side is it takes twice as long for my computer to do anything. Both of my kids are in college. My daughter is bored out of her mind. My son thinks this social distancing thing is great. He is one we could send to Mars because he can sit in front of a glowing rectangle all day and never go outside. I see myself getting a lot of yard work done over the next week.
