That's because they aren't taking it seriously. My neighbor in the house across the street is 23ish and single. He's got friends over partying all the time. He's a good kid. Keeps up his house, doesn't play music too loud, no beer cans in the yard, etc. But eff man, they just keep getting together and partying. I really don't think they get it.
Levi, you're the first person I "know" that has had it. Glad you are Ok and on the mend. Do you know how you contracted it?
Crazy, glad you and your family are okay. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanted to know more about your experience if you feel like sharing.
I'm not sure where I got it. I'm between Cheyenne and Ft. Collins quite a bit and do a lot of groundwater remediation work in Nebraska. I'm guessing I got it somewhere around home based on the timing. I'm the only one in my office but I share a hall/bathrooms with another office that works in some kind of tourism so that's a possibility. I'm pretty sure my kids got it from me. My ex has it now and has described most of the same things as I had.
It started with a tickle in my throat that would come and go, then a little tighter in the throat but it would come and go to the point where I thought it was in my head because it was all over the news. I think it was the second or third night when my chest started getting tight (sometimes painful through to my back) and the dry cough started. The cough burned and was completely unproductive, it would make me want to cough more which would make it worse and kind of cycled downward. But this would come and go too. This is where I think it could get bad for someone with another issue. I woke up one of those nights soaked like I had jumped in a pool so I'm sure I had a fever too. The chest tightness and dry cough got better after the bad day or two but hung around coming and going as well. It also felt like I was wearing a dress shirt with too small of a collar and a really tight tie after. Those symptoms gradually went away with the tight throat/chest being the last to leave. I still think my chest is a little tight though. My nose would drip like a faucet on and off too but no congestion, drainage, etc. My ex told me she is having bad headaches/neck aches too which I probably didn't notice because I have cervical stenosis. Overall, I think things lasted around 2 weeks for me. I also felt better in the morning and worse at night. The nights I did work out (alternate light weights/yoga) I felt worse after if I finished.
My daughter barely had symptoms, runny nose, light cough and grouchy for a day. It hit my son harder and he was down for a day, didn't eat the first and barely anything the second, 101 fever. He looked swollen, and was achy. No cough and no tightness of chest which was a big relief because we almost lost him to pneumonia a couple years ago. He didn't want me to touch him at the doctor's office, he said just putting my hand on his arm hurt. He would also complain of a bad smell off and on which I couldn't smell.
