D1 hand brake cable broken?

As I continue to go down the list of many things the D1 I am working on needs, I have reached the hand brake.

It pulls up with no resistance whatsoever. Is a broken cable a likely problem or is there something that normally causes this behavior? It is connected at the hand lever and everything looks normal from underneath. I have not pulled the drum to look inside.

It could just be way out of adjustment I suppose. I think your going to need to take the drum off and look inside.

It’s broken. Any thoughts on aftermarket cables? The LR ones are over 5 times the cost at about $125. Cant find an ”OEM” one”

Just go with aftermarket. It’s a cable. About $35 at RN or AB. STC1528

Adjust the brake shoes first, then adjust the cable, cable could be stretched out

I think Will could send you a cable attached to the backing plate. Cable all the way up to the lever. I would way rather have a used OEM assembly.
