D1 headroom vs d2

Hi guys, bidding on an out of state d1. One question as it’s been several years since I was in a d1. Online it shows the d1 has 37.5 inches of headroom vs 40 on the d2. Is it possible to get anymore headroom out of the d1 without radical changes. Tried a search, found things about extending legroom but nothing conclusive on headroom. Any advice is appreciated as I start the disco adventure again

Edit: I’m 6’3” more torso then legs

It’s been awhile sitting in a D1 for me but I remember it being more cramped than my D2, which wasn’t much at my height

I'm 6'4" and have tinkered with seat settings to find a workable driving position in my D1, mainly leaning the seat back. I still have to tilt my neck a bit to see far ahead and I routinely watch traffic signals turn from red to green via the reflection in the hood.

I drove another D1 that had a broken diaphragm in the seat base. This lowered the seating position an inch or two - not much, but enough to notice a difference. If you're struggling for headroom you might try removing the diaphragm in the seat base if it hasn't failed from age.

Headroom itself should be ok, yet, sight line out could be an issue.

The roof line extends pretty far down.

Seeing stoplights change close by for some like Tugela mentioned above was a common comment.

I'm 6'4" and agree with all these comments. I find that I'm really looking at the sun visor in my D1. I can find a comfortable position, but it's right on the limit of what I'd consider too small. I'd choose a D2 if I was using it as a daily driver.

Thanks for feedback guys, focusing on a 99-2000 or 04 d2 now due to height restrictions. Being tall sucks sometimes in terms of cool cars

Being tall sucks frequently in terms of many cars, not just those that we might consider cool. I find the ergonomics of many newer models to be uncomfortable. To say nothing of air travel... Moral of the story: I should just buy an L322 Range Rover and drive everywhere in comfort.

I drove a D1 for 16 years, I'm 6'4" tall. City driving with plenty of lights was the only time I disapproved. I now have a 1995 RRC LWB, and I think it has better visibility, yet considerably less headroom. I surprisingly just fit, but no baseball caps...

We complain about Discos but they’re not that awful. Drove a friends MGB and think most of my head was above the windshield

I have to say that for me, on the list of things to consider between D1 and D2, the headroom would be the fine print on the bottom of the last page.
