D1 iLAND functions

Hi all, I've purchased a Bearmach Hawkeye Total for my D1, needed to reset engine adaptions and pair key fobs. For these functions it works great. Unfortunately, like an idiot I was scrolling through the security menu and instead of pressing "exit", I pressed "save". Despite not having made any changes in the menus, I have lost immobilizer pairing and "bricked" my truck (crank/no start).

I have a good Rover shop in town who can reprogram for me, but he is up to his eyeballs and it will be a week before I can get the Disco in for repair. Meantime I am looking at what seems to be the only other game in town for the D1, which is the iLAND app and dongle. Listed in the special functions is "MEMS 1.9 Immobilisation Reprogram" which would seem to be the function I need, however nobody at AB can confirm this and I won't be able to return the system if it fails to function.

So, any other masochists out there who are looking after their D1 and have had success with this feature?

Try RobertF's app, I thought the Hawkeye had the capability to put them into security learn mode?

You can send them down to me if you want, I can pair the fobs and sync everything back up.

What Hawkeye model do you have?
Does it require the additional dongle to pair fobs to the truck?

Thanks for the replies, guys. YES I have that GEMS reader app on an Android tablet and totally forgot it has immobilizer pairing! I will try it first thing when I get home!! I have only used it to reset the adaptions.

Toran I have the Hawkeye Total and the BA5076 dongle which opens up the security menus including fob pairing.

This is super helpful, thank you guys for the assistance. For good measure here's a pic of my Disco as it sits today, one of my all time favorite vehicles that I've owned. It is a keeper for sure. My boy Sharpe agrees wholeheartedly. :)

Logan thank you for the offer. Nowhere in the Hawkeye menus do I see learn mode and I've also sent the Bearmach folks a help request via email. They responded right away but couldn't offer any help yet. Little disappointing considering the cost of the unit. But our D1s are kind of the redheaded step children when it comes to all these OBD tools.

That’s one sweet looking ride along with one of the best dog breeds in the world! :)

Those BA5076 dongles are proving to be hard to find these days. Where did you get yours?

Thanks man! I love this truck. I bought it from the original owners. Zero rust, I mean, NONE. Rare R380. After some work the original paint shines like new. She's a creampuff. I've put on the ARB bumper, First Four rear steel bumper, Gwyn Lewis +5" spring dislocation kit, Gwyn's heavy duty tie rods and trailing arms, high angle A-frame ball, OME shocks and damper, Tom Woods drive shaft, lots more and tons of detail work. Still a little way to go to get her up to "my" spec but she's got most of the important stuff done now.

Tell me about it with that dongle, I finally found one at Atlantic British and paid through the nose. I really like being self sufficient with vehicles and really wanted my keyless entry to work. It now works great, the truck just won't start. ;)

Very nice goodies you have added to your rig. Rust free too, what a keeper!

I am still sniffing around for the a BA5076 dongle, I need to start looking at the UK eBay sites more.
Now back to business, we gotta get your truck started.

Somewhere I read - I think on the Bearmach site - that they are discontinuing the dongles. I paid too much for my green dongle, but decided to pony up before the supplies run out. I couldn't find them in stock anywhere including ebay after watching for quite a few months.

Yikes!
Thanks for the heads up. I bought my last one from eBay back in 2016. Now eBay is empty. I best get a move on before this dongle becomes as illusive as a unicorn.

OK guys, here is the report. I got out my tablet with the GEMS Reader Lite on it, connected up and selected immobilizer pairing, and hit enter or whatever. Nothing happened. Disconnected, switched off ignition, tried starting, crank-no-start, switched off, tried starting, crank-no-start. Tried pairing once more for good measure. No dice.

On to the Hawkeye. First of all, the Hawkeye DOES have security pairing, but it's under the EMS > GEMS menu rather than the security menu. I looked at codes. "P1621 Communications with the Security ECM has not happened within the Expected Time". Makes sense. Cleared codes, paired security. It has you switch off, wait, switch on. Same P1621 code, and the Hawkeye says "GEMS security NOT paired".

Plugged in the BA5076 security dongle. No matter what I change here, when I come back, everything displays its original setting. I think this may be a bug in the software ( I would expect the menu to show parameters in their current state which it does not appear to do) because when I choose and write certain options, I hear a click behind the dash, and I can get the hazard lights to come on solid with certain choices. Here are the options I can choose from and their default settings, which always display the same way even after I write the change.

MEMS/TD5 YES
GEMS Immobilisation NO
Spider Immobilisation NO
EDC Immobilisation NO
DDS Immobilisation NO
Catalyst Overheat Warning DISABLED
Land Rover Defender ENABLED
Discovery Interior Lights ENABLED
Defender Interior Lights ENABLED
Pulsed Horn DISABLED
Hazards ON Alarm Triggered ENABLED
Hazards ON Alarm Arm/Disiarm ENABLED
Passive Immobilisation ENABLED
CDL Operative With Alarm Armed ENABLED
Anti Theft System ENABLED
Disarm Alarm/Immob. with Key DISABLED
Disarm Alarm Only with Key ENABLED
Unlock Vehicle - No Disarm DISABLED
Mislock Sounder ENABLED
LED Indication Of Alarm Trigger ENABLED

Because of the "bug" in the Hawkeye display, I think what I probably need to do here is go through this list and set all the choices as I want them, and then write. I already tried setting MEMS/TD5 to NO and GEMS to YES, which did not allow me to pair security. Perhaps I should have also changed some other parameters. I also suspect I need to hold my mouth a certain way and open the passenger door or something to reset things. I say this because when I changed the battery a while back, I had a no crank situation until I removed power and restored it while holding down the hood switch. I am sure this is all well thought out to prevent theft, but FFS, put it in the damn manual! Not even the factory repair tomes make any mention about the hood switch when disconnecting the battery...

Any clues appreciated!

I should also mention that I took my Disco to the local Rover guru last year, and had him disable the immobilizer using his high buck dealer style interface. I didn't want to get stranded in the woods if something went sideways. I assume that Hawkeye has overwritten any changes he made, but I suppose that might not be the case.

Sorry to hear this, and yet this is out of my scope.
Reach out to members like Will Tillery and Paul Grant as these are guys that have taken these trucks apart for years with much knowledge that isn't identified in the manuals.

These alarms can go wacky and it would be super to know how to bypass them when push comes to shove.

It hasnt over-written it. You cant disable the sync between the ECU and 10AS easily. He probably disable the immobilizer being engaged via the fob or door lock. Which basically "disables" the immobilizer.

Its just not putting the ECU into security learn mode to sync up with the 10AS, or it is and the 10AS is going bad.
I've had a 10as fail after pairing a remote to it, would never sync with an ecu after that. Tried re-wiring it and everything.

Try setting to Enable on these:
Disarm Alarm/Immob. with Key DISABLED

Try setting to Disable on these:
Passive Immobilisation ENABLED
Anti Theft System ENABLED

She's in the shop now, I talked to them when she arrived Tuesday, and their high buck scan tool did not effect a fix, so something has gone sideways. Not looking forward to seeing the bill as I am certain they are burning time trying to figure out what's going on. However it is an excellent shop that I trust.

Not real happy with my Hawkeye right now.
