What bits do I need to go from manual to auto?
I have a 94 D1, manual trans. It's super sloppy and I don't care for manual on the trails. I will be installing a 14CUX 4.6 engine with a 2004 LT230 locking Tcase.
I'm pulling the Auto trans tomorrow from another 96D1 I have.
What parts should I grab from my 96 before scrapping it to make this conversion work??

Cooling lines
Radiator
The section of wiring harness that plugs in by the brake booster
Theres a relay or 2 behind the glovebox that have something to do with the lockout solenoid, but Id remove all that junk. European trucks didnt get it anyways,

drivers kick panel is different too. It has a pad on it

I still have the pedal and wiring harness I meant to send you a while ago. If you think you need it let me know. That section of the wiring harness has the resistor in it to tell the 14cux its a manual or not

All the bits to replace the flywheel and bolt on the TC, ie. flexplate, spacers, ring gear, bolts. Remember the spacer layout to fit on the vehicle.
Shift lever and associated cable/s/wiring.
Mounting points (in case they differ).
Tranny harness for shift position, reverse light etc.
Speedo transducer and wiring.
BCM.
Pedal box and switches etc.
Propshafts, for spares, if nothing else.
Tranny dipstick, tube, mounts, etc.
Breather pipes, if any and associated gubbins.

Thanks Robert! Which section by the brake booster? What is that for?

The section with the resistor, is that something I could just change the resistor in?

Food for thought, sell your vehicle on BaT as having an uber rare manual transmission and then buy any other automatic Disco out there with loads of cash left over. That place makes about as much sense as swapping your manual D1 over to auto.

Or have you already removed the engine and transmission for the motor swap?

Hmmmm. The 94 manual is still complete; runs and drives. Just missing a rear bumper. My biggest concern is finding another somewhat rust free...

you might even need the radiator. Doesn't the trans cooler go into the radiator, then out of the radiator to the aux trans cooler, then back to the trans? I bet the throttle bracket has the slot for the throttle cable fron the trans. I wouldn't even bother getting the peddle box out of it. just get the clutch ppeddle out of it, the throttle has got to be the same. Your going to need the shaft that goes into the t case and splines onto the output shaft of the trans. The manual trans has a longer tail shaft that goes the whole distance. They call that shaft the Donkey Dick believe it of not. Not officially of course, but more than one higher up has called it that within earshot of me.

So the Auto trans I'm using is from my 96 D1. Will that mate up to an 04 D2 transfercase without needing to swap shafts?

But take the round PTO cover off the back of the t case, then blast the 17 or 18 mm bolt loose thats in the center of the shaft. Then the shaft will come right off and you won't fuck that seal up putting it back together. then when the t case is bolted to the trans you just slide it in and blast that bolt tight. n the truck it saves you from having to slide the t case back that extra 6 or 8 inches to clear it.

Don't know if you did this yet. I should have said you take off the round PTO cover, pull the input gear cluster out, then the shaft.
Haven't done any install yet. Got the TC, transmission, pedalbox pulled today. Tucked them away in my garage for future.

I am pretty sure that resistor deal is pretty important it changes some parameters in ecu i would take the the computers just in case

Or just do the B A T thing
I'll find a resistor. I might still have one from my old 95. The computers won't transfer, donor truck is a 96, recipient is a 94.
