I was just calling it like I see it. It was by no means an insult. Lots of people make cost a top priority. Look at Ron. He's an attorney, has a huge Rover parts stash and is still the cheapest haggling parts vulture out there.

Seriously, just pipe all the lines together. You'll hardly notice a difference.

Maybe if it were our 1991 LHD 200 tdi D110 in pristine condition that isn't used as a training truck. But this trucks priority is to run as much as possible for training that we do 2 to 3 times a month with little down time available to fix them. Is that really possible for a Rover though? Eventually the fleet will be mostly Toyota and honestly I can't wait. I am off to pick up a 2007 Tacoma this weekend. Though I'm sure that I'll prefer driving the 110 around town and on the trails.

We run a fleet of Toyota trucks at work and I've done a few 4WD training sessions with all Toyotas. The 95.5-2004 Tacoma is damn good for a US spec truck.
All of the later vehicles are kind of a pain in the ass. Sure they're reliable and all that, but they're so fucking big. Our 2007 quad cab Tacoma is the exact same size as our 2006 quad cab Tundra. I mean, what the fuck?
My prediction is that you'll love the fatty big eye tuna on the road and hate it on the trail.

I don't haggle. I just buy stuff that is cheap relative to its intrinsic value.

We're not using the Toyota's because we want them, but rather because our customers (SEALs, Rangers, etc) use them. The Hilux to be more exact, but we don't have our hands on any......yet. The Tacoma is the same platform of course.

We're hoping to get our hands on some Thai built Ford Rangers too. Almost identical to the Hilux.

I doubt I will be happy with the size as that is the first thing I noticed. They (along with every other vehicle) is getting bigger/fatter.......along with the people that drive them.

I plan on driving the new Tacoma to Newfoundland/Labrador next month and I am pretty sure I will enjoy it on the road. Far better than the DI, which I've never been that thrilled with on road.

Our current fleet is just right for me.....2 door Hilux, BJ75, D110, etc. I just don't see the DIs holding up at all. Even with VERY careful monitoring of students and non-agressive drivers. The Toyota's have traditionally been far better at taking abuse over and over.

The length (wheelbase) of trucks never really bothers me, but rather the width and lack of being able to judge the corners is what does.

I'd love a 2003 extended cab Tacoma.
