03 D2 won’t start. I noticed that it was cranking a little slower than normal and we’ve had some cool nights. On Thursday it started slow and I drove to work which is about a mile shut it off and tried to restart and it was dead. About an hour later it barely started and drove another mile home and it wouldn’t start again. So I pulled the batter that’s not quiet 1.5 years old and it tested fine. Pulled the starter it tested as good. Put it back in still won’t start. Cleaned connections on starter as well. I’ve got power from the fuse box in the wire that runs to the starter when the switch is turned. I can hear the starter engage but won’t turn. So it’s the battery or starter unless I’m missing something. I tried another battery and would not start also tried jumping it off and nothing. Is their anything else that would keep it from cranking that I’ve missed..

Put a charger on it until it’s fully charged. If it starts, check the voltage while it’s running to see if the alternator is working properly.

A friend is the manager where I got the battery. I think I can just switch it out hopefully with no charge and start there.

on a d1 the chassis ground goes on the starter bolt. dont know if d2 is that way. did you put that back on when messing with the starter?

Well it’s not the battery. I got a replacement and still not cranking. I can hear and feel the starter engaging it just won’t crank it over

Probably not the case but the flywheel can get bound up. Try putting the truck in neutral and roll it forward and/or back a few feet. Then try starting it again and see if anything changes.

If it’s still not working, maybe someone locally has a spare you can try to confirm your starter is bad.

sounds like what one of mine did when the starter brushes needed replacing

I'd still check voltage at the starter to rule out a corroded cable

I replaced the starter and gave it a come on baby and she fired right up. On a positive not I can now pull a starter in less than 15 min.
