Damaged Fan Clutch and more?

Hello Good People,
I replaced what I thought was a bad power steering pump. The problem turned out to be a bad water pump

After installing a new serpentine belt I started the car for a few seconds and heard clunky sound so I turned the car off but not before the belt came off. Now the fan clutch is wobbly and there are some fine metal shavings along with a visible bearing.

Can someone please help me identify what I need to resolve this matter?

You need a new fan clutch, part number ERR3443. Plenty of options nowadays.

Edit - you may want to verify that the water pump bearing is in good condition, and that the fan blades are not cracked anywhere.

p m,
Thanks for the quick response.
The fan clutch spindle is extremely wobbly so seems like I will be needing a water pump replacement too.

I am not sure what exactly are you talking about; you can take a short video while shaking the fan to illustrate it.

Where did the ball bearing and the metal shavings on top of the water pump come from? Also it looks to me that the water pump shaft that the pulley connects to has scaring and such like it has been wobbling around. I would bet you lost a set of bearings in the pump. It should have no play.

Hello Good People,

Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone for the proper tech support. The problem was a busted water pump. After applying the much needed tech support I got the old one off and the replacement one on and the truck is back up and running.

Thanks!

If you didn't also replace the fan clutch do so soon. The water pump and fan clutch should be replaced together. If the fan clutch hasn't yet failed it probably will soon given that it's now dancing with a new water pump.
