How many times do you have to keep changing these little suckers?!?!
I changed mine 20k ago, and it went out on me again this morning! Ugh.
Looks like a trip to LR SA is in the mix today.
Anyone else find these go out often?

I just noticed yesterday that mine is starting to weep on my G4. The truck is just reaching the 50k mark on the odo. I'll probably wait a little longer before replacing. The one on my last DII was leaking like a seive.

I've found that if you don't draw-file the mating surface on the bottom of the throttle body, you're asking to get good at doing them as you'll be repeating the process shortly.

Point taken. By draw-filing, are you saying you should take a file to it to roughen it up though? Sorry, stupid question Tuesday is on :)

is this leak point very evident? I always look at mine and it appears to be fine, I would love this simple problem to be the cause of my small coolant disappearance though. just curious if it leaks and evaporates before you see?

I took this advice and lapped mine nice and smooth when I did it a couple weeks ago. Time will tell if it holds up longer than 20k.

replaced it this afternoon. The issue seems to be the F$%king gasket they ship with it. For some reason, mine corroded on the throttle body side of the shim in the gasket, but the other side was fine. Anyways, changed the beyotch out, put it back together and runs good, no more coolant smell.

All in all, $37.32 for the kit from LR San Antonio, two beers, and a fine 2006 Rocky Patel Sun Grown Torpedo cigar for the event.

Which Permatex did you use, please? Tired of bleeding coolant!
I used Right Stuff sealant last time, still holding well. And PT, it had been filed the previous time.

I just removed mine, by passed it and rerouted the coolant lines. I have not had any issues. I am sure some may not agree but looked like planned obsolesence to me.

I actually just ordered the Flaconworks bronze unit. I think they're right about the problem being the plates and not the gaskets.

Someone had to test the thing. May as well be me. If it performs as advertised, it's well worth the money.

Cheers,

Kennith

Please report again when the throttle plate ices over. You may have to wait a few months, though.
