OK so i bought a new battery about a few months ago because my original one was done. I bought a optima red top, and i know about the mixed opinions about optima batteries so spare me this one ha. We ends up i had it for about a month and my car kept dying and my starter began acting up so i took it back and they replaced it after the second time i came in with a dead car after i had clearly driven it 10 miles to the part store and they didnt want to replace it, but they finally did. Well now i am in the same predicament. The battery seems to die if i dont drive it for a week or so. How can i test to see if something is drawing some voltage when the car is turned off. Any other things it could be. Im getting pretty fed up with optima if i go in again and they say its another bad battery...???

Most any shop or even autoparts store should be able to test the system to see if there is a draw when it's shut off.

Have them test the alternator to see if it's way over charging or something too - that can kill a battery as well.

Should've bought a Diehard Platinum! Sorry.... :)

Yeah i have checked the alternator while its running and it is pushing a little over 13 volts so that's about average. I guess i can try a shop. Who sells diehard, is that sears?

That maybe a problem. I removed the bulb out of my rear seat one because i didn't like the fact that it came on everytime i opened the door. i will have to check that out. Is there a way to wire it so that it does not come on when the doors open, and only with the switch?
