Dead battery and Truck won't start

Had the truck sitting for a few days while I was away. Went to start it, and the battery was dead.
Jumped it, and it will turn over and fire up, then immediately die.
I got it to run a couple of times for aboit 2-3 minutes, then it died.

Any ideas what's the dealio?
What could be draining the battery AND keeping it from running?

so...after jou jumped it, did you leave the cables connected (from the donor battery) and then it died? or, does it die after you remove the cables.

Sounds like a short in the alternator. Most car parts places can check it for free.

I bet a short around the alternator too. that will fry your battery as well
