Looks like the crack in the windshield is finally too expansive to pass (not bad for 6 years running).

I've got calls into some local independents to see about getting one pulled from a parts truck and re-installed in my truck.

Anyone have a line on new ones at a reasonable price?

My local glass shop was able to get one pretty cheap. Otherwise, I special ordered a heated one for around $500, I'd let go cheaper

local safelite wanted 540 installed. I local guy i've used in the past to remove/reinstall didnt want to touch it (esp in this cold weather).

Spoke with my mechanic and was able to use his glass guy. $200 installed. DONE! meeting him monday.

it was worth the hassle today.

I think safelite is pricey cause they put a new set of seals/moulding in.

I got my D1 done by some back alley discount glass place in saint paul for about $220 iirc. They re-used the seals/moulding.

I had to silicone the upper corner for a small water leak where their glue bead joined, but other than that it's been fine for about 4 years now.

its done. apparently there was a pine needle issue (the whole inside is covered in them). Probably from the PO's driveway, if it recall i was parked under a pine tree grove.

???? Have had a couple of windshields done with them under insurance. Haven't had any issues.

I've probably seen 20 or so that they have fucked up. Anything from leaks and damaged trim, to putting the wrong windshield without a rain sensor in a Range Rover. They are by far the worst that I've seen. I would ask the dealership or a local high end body shop who they recommend. I think last time I had the windshield replaced in my Discovery (this was probably in '08) I paid around $250 installed.
