Hoping someone here can help me figure out these issues with the various radios in the D2. -
Purchased a 2003 D2 - that had a squarely stock radio - the volume knob was would skip erratically - if it decided to work at all. - In addition - the backlight was flickering. - So we picked up a used one from a 99. (because we wanted the weather band.... :]
I know that the 2003-2004 stock radios did NOT have weather band. However according to several sources (Including the Land Rover 2000 discovery video manual) the 99-02 models had the weather band accessible as the “3rd” AM Band - not a physical WB Button like the older D1’s.
When we hooked up the 99 radio in the 2003 D2 - No weather band. Also it had the same issue with the volume knob (not to mention a tape eject that sent the cassette just but into the rear seats…
We’re gonna try another radio - from a 2000, and a 2001 - but there has to be some reason to all of this.
Is anyone familiar with the weather band and the D2 radios. - Not sure why it wasn’t working.
Also noticed that the 2003 radio that was installed had two hook ups for antennas - a large cable and a small cable - the 99 radio - only had one port got yer antennae.
