I have the base stereo in my D1 (no tweeters in the pillars) and want to upgrade all four 4" speakers (keeping stock head unit). I bought some 4" infinity ones that crutchfield and amazon said would fit but the magnet is too deep and wide and they won't fit.

Anyone know of a good front speaker option that works or have tips on how to fabricate something around the original speaker hole to accomidate the larger speakers?

Crutchfield said they would fit. They only go by diameter, not depth on the fitment guides. I don’t think sites can get the dimensions of existing speakers for comparison with the speakers for sale. Always take fitment with a grain of salt.

I used 4” Rockford Fosgate up front. Had to trim the new speaker grills, but they still look like factory. I used 5 1/4” speakers in the rear with no trimming required.

Do you know the model numbers?

Hopefully this works.
Those are the 4” and the 5 1/4” are
They are pretty good. Not great or high end but wasn’t going to worry too much if someone procured them while my Rover is parked.

Did the 5 1/4 actually fit in the rear pillars or did you use those in the door?
