Disco 1 Misc Questions

Greetings all,
Still somewhat of a newb on fixing up my 1998 Disco 1 50th Anniversary edition, I'm interested in making appropriate, tested, and clean mods that are classy, yet practical.
  1. I have managed to break the front plastic of the in-dash Coin Tray (the felt lined one.) It is just the front plastic facia that I've broken, the rest of the component can be removed and reinserted without issue. I've tried to find a replacement (Part #BTR6625LNF) but no-one seems to have one and it is discontinued. It appears to use the same opening as the Clock Assembly. Does anyone have a cool idea for using that space that still looks classy and as close to original as possible? Or, does anyone have a replacement for that Part? Creativity is always welcome - I don't need the Coin storage capabilities, but I do want the space to look classy. Thoughts?
  2. Speaking of the Clock - I've replaced that digital clock several times, and can't figure out why it constantly goes bad. I have seen Analog Versions from time to time but I can't find any online. Anyone have any ideas where I can buy one? I've given up on the "1995 RRC" solution as there are just no parts out there any more. Anyone done anything cool here?
  3. Time to replace my original Stereo Head unit, and want to put something with a Apple Car Play capability along with a slide out/slide up display so that I can impress my kids. I've seen a Pioneer version that is supposed to be the "best" replacement unit, but I'd like to hear from someone who really knows first hand if it works and what works best. Any thoughts?
  4. I'd like to put on a Brush Guard - do I need to buy new, or is this something that I can buy used, and if so, any thoughts on where and what is the best product for the dollar?
  5. My front Driver and Passenger seats have split their seams on the bottom cushion. I can't find any articles on having them repaired/the leather replaced. Does anyone have some guidance on this? Can I send the parts off (specifically the base Seat) for reupholstery ?
Thank you all in advance for your advice and patience with me!
I'll try to make it up to you all!

1- a switch bracket

2-a gauge for... something

I gutted mine and put in a digital voltmeter

3- pick the one with the best reviews on crutchfield. you'll need to bypass the factory amp, or use a kit to get the new deck to work with the factory amp. Most people run new wires to the speakers to the deck.

4-brush guards are dumb. if you're going for just looks, you can find one used eventually if you look around. ARB, safari guard, and others make real bumpers.

5-just have it done at your favorite local upholstery shop. there are no commercially available replacements.

MM...you are a freak! Thank you so so much for all of your insight and recommendations.
It is exactly what I needed to hear (and do!)
If I have any more kids, I'll name them "MM" in honor of you!

Again, thanks tons,

I bought seat covers from L seat just this month, and I have to say I have not been happy with them or their customer service. The seat covers look great, however they shipped me the wrong color. They are actually closer to the 50th anniversary seat color which is different to the rest of the d1 years. Maybe we can work something out if you want to shoot me a pm

joneschris....what color did you order? what was sent? Is your original color "Bahama Beige"? From what I understand, the closest match is listed on lseat as 'Lark'.

are the 50th seats different from the run of the mill LSE? I've been on the fence about ordering from them, a guide to correct color, stitch color, and piping options would be great.

Do all of their covers have the rear seat arm rest, or is that an option?

I think the 50th anniversary color im referencing is the LSE color. Ordered stitching the same color as the seats and it came out well. Unsure about rears as I only got front

I was happy enough with the 95 RRC seat covers they sent me. Not the same quality, but nowhere close to the "quality" price range.

... To reiterate on the (Land Rover) brush guard: its only purpose in life is to mangle your hood and fenders in a minor accident.

The Lseat.com site gives all the seat cover options. I think a phone call is required to get order right. The price is right.

I have looked at the Lseat.com covers for a while but my original set is still in pretty good shape. I had more or less decided to swap in a manual set I have but after getting the power seat switches working well and my wife’s like of the seat heaters, I am leaning back toward recovering the power seats when the time comes. I am glad to hear others are buying them as it makes it more likely they will still offer them when I need to get new upholstery. I have only heard good reviews of their quality.

Let's not discount the function of protecting the front of the vehicle from rogue shopping carts in parking lots. What's more, you can mount lights on it and there is the factory accessory appeal to some originalistas. I have seen one or two chrome factory brush guards (only on LSE D1s) that served the additional purpose of inducing nausea. Chrome bumpers are one thing, but an entire brush guard to boot? Way too much.
