Disco 2 fan clutch

Hello! New member here with a 2004 discovery and I think the fan clutch has gone. The fan still still spins with resistance while cold but overheats off of the highway?

your truck overheats on the highway? likely a radiator...

No, off the highway. Get on to 70mph and it cools down. I was told a head gasket would keep right on going higher. It overheats idling in traffic to the point that the AC stops and the fan comes on. I was told I’d hear the viscous fan driven by the engine especially if I replace it.

can try the fan, but that's rarely the cause of overheating.. are you measuring your temps? if so what are they? watching the gauge on the dash? how do you know it's overheating?

Get a temp "gun" and take the temps right off the hoses and outlet. Its surprising how inaccurate the gauges are
