Hi!

Im looking for vehicle nr 2.....alternatives are disco and defender/110. In my area there is no 110/defenders to "testdrive", so i ask here:

Many people says that defender are "cramped" and "small", "no albow space" and so on!

How "cramped", "small" and un comfy is defenders/110???

realy like to get som oppinios who has tried out both vehicles! How comfy are they to drive longer distances?

thankfull for any oppinions

The Disco and Defender are two entirely different vehicles. And it being a Discovery II you're considering, even more different. The Discovery is more like a car, the Defender more like a truck. What's your intended use?

hi!

Intended use to haul a*s to work, hauling some sleddogs and equipment, summer hollyday with family, offroad/4x4 meetings and so on! Quit mixed usage.

I know disco is more car like but with dogs, sleds and equipment a bigger car could be handy!

biggest ??? is how cramped is drivers palce? im 188cm tal so do i get in trouble?

A newer Defender is perfectly comfy enough for even a pretty long haul. To be honest if you're even considering it you'll probably be happy. The D2 is smoother/quieter and such, but the Defender is more of a work-horse.

If you have the $$ go for the Defender, if nothing else it will hold its value much much longer.

coming from where you will be able to pick one up, you will get a newer defender, which is more refined than what we are all used to seeing/riding in.

also, depending on age of vehicles compared, a defender may be cheaper for you, we are used to the opposite here since it is more of a commodity.

I agree about the 110 maybe being bigger inside. In fact I am quite sure it is.

I recall being in one in Switzerland a couple years ago and it was pretty open inside as well as pretty comfy. The newer ones are nice. :) This one was maybe a late 90's/early 00's? No idea really but it seemed about that age. I loved it.

And as for being cramped in the driver seat... both of them are a bit cramped... with my disco2, i feel more cramped on my right side (in a LHD)... in my d90, I felt more cramped on the left side by the door...

Also, the D2 rear seats do not have much leg room, and the rear doors don't open very wide at all.

For sled dogs and all, 110 all the way. Keep in mind however, that it is very uncomfortable for long trips.

Weren't the older defenders (not sure if anything has changed in the past decade) essentially running the same drivetrain/frame/suspension as the DiscoI?

Might not be the case in europe.

I would not hesitate to buy a Defender!
6' is not a problem as far as space is concerned. Like said before the [LHD] window side is a little tight. I am 6' & have 48" chest & if I can fit you will be fine..
You will love the Defender for what you want it for.

If you want to be warm when it's cold out, and cool when it's hot out, you DO NOT want a Defender.

They are completely different vehicles, a Defender is a tractor, a DII is a comfy car.
Paul come on new ones are not like the shit we have.
My 110 is pretty comfy in the winter.
