After a big trip we did couple months back, I had to do something about the MPGs.
It's done! Cost under $2,000. Time one month of evenings. Donor Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo. Build thread.

rob davis has one in a series. he is working on a 603 conversion for our heavy disco's.
good build, now you have a truck you can spend very little on repairs (thanks to tillery and joel) and a motor that will never stop. which, i think is the perfect combination.

if you need parts or anything let us know, we know these motors pretty well.

About to drop a refabed 617 in, as per ORIGINAL plan. I'm trying to have it in one piece when it goes in, a/c pump included... I heard one of you guys had atempted some adapting, it would help tremendously if I didn't have to start at zero. Tring to meet D1 system to Vbelt pump.
