If I were in need (which I am) of draining the LR3 fuel tank of about 4 gallons, how would I do that without having to drop the tank?

Is there an easy to find fuel line at the rail of otherwise?

If you get the truck jacked up, or better yet on a lift, you'll find the fuel line in front of the tank. There is a fitting there as well, but it may be wrapped under some sticky insulation, I can't remember.

It's under pressure, obviously. So pull the fuel pump fuse and start the trucks and allow it to run until it quits. The disconnect the two lines. Once you've got the apart, put your fuse back in and turn on the key. The fuel pump will pump your fuel out.

I can't remember without looking, but you may, or may not, need to drop the front half of the tank to reach the line. You may be able to just grab the fuel line under the hood and do the same thing.

One last idea is to remove the filler hose from the tank. On the tank there is a one-way valve, so gas is not going to come pouring out once the hose is removed. Get a bucket under the tank and use a screwdriver or small rod to flip the one-way valve up and gas should flow. If the gas level is below the fill line level, use a small tube to siphon the gas.

cool, thanks. Will let you know how it turns out. I case ya'll have any other ideas, 'somehow' the tank got diesel in it (will work that out with the wife later). So if there are any other ideas about that, it would be appreciated. I think the fuel line is pretty much all diesel as the fuel level was low. but if I could get fuel out of the tank and the line, I think I will be in good shape to refill properly and run it out

Again, thought are appreciated.

OK, so I crossed my fingers, put 10 gal of 93 in and started it. Ran like crap for about 3-4 minutes with barely an idle and dying 4-5 times. Then it was obvious that the gasoline mix was finally to the fuel rail.

Smells like a diesel as it is 1 part diesel, 2 parts gasoline, but runs surprisingly well, despite a little oily smoke.

No codes currently. Going to run out the current fuel as is before adding more gas.
