Driver Door Lock Actuator

Last night I had to replace the spring in the lock mechanism for my driver door since it wasnt opening. The spring replacement went fine and the door opens from inside'/outside without needing to hold the key in.

My current issue is that once put back together, the driver door lock isnt locking/unlocking if I use the FOB.

When I have the driver door open, and i "lock" the car via the internal door lock, you can hear the rest of the locks lock and then unlock since the door is open like its supposed to. if i get in and lock the door via the internal lock, the rest of the car locks. If i lock from outside the car with the key, the whole car locks. if i use the FOB, every door execpt the driver door locks/unlocks.

It appears the master locking system is functioning correctly except the fact that my driver door isnt unlocking automatically.

I have an extra passenger lock actuator and have swapped motors of the 2 devices and it worked for 2 tries and then died. is this just a burnt out motor issue?

Drivers side actuator has inside a state indicator switch. It should be different than passenger side one, isn't it?.
Courtesy lights are working when door switch button is pressed/depressed?
Regards
You are correct, it has a switch that’s pushed in when the arm slides in. This switch is what controls the state of locked (pushed in) or unlocked (not pressed). The pigtail is also different as well.

The drivers side actuator is functioning correctly in regards to the switch (sensing the door is locked/unlocked and closed/open. It operates the rest of the doors correctly depending on the position of the actuator arm.

What’s not working is the arm (controlled by a motor) moving on its own when operated by the FOB.

I have replaced the motor with one from another actuator which worked briefly and then died again. That other passenger actuator came from the internet as a spare a year ago and potentially was on its way out as well.

I have a pair of these on their way to see if that can repair the actuator functionality. Worth $13 vs buying another master actuator for $200+.

Sorry, missed your question about the lights. Yes, the lights work when the door has been opened. And shut off with the timer when the door is closed.

My D1 has the Valeo AS10 alarm (im not sure if NAS vehicles do have the same), and the five door motors hang from the same alarm terminals. But cables to reach each motor are the difference. For instance, there is a split connection for rear side doors, that when rusty makes random trouble with one or both rear door buttons.
So I suggest to check the line for instance in the section where harness has movement between door and frame.
Regards

I am currently preparing to install power folding mirrors on my 2004 discovery and someone told me the looms are the same for each door. Being the last thing to throw more money at, I mentioned the key on my NAS discovery 2 is only good for the Passinger door, which also locks and unlocks the central locking system. Does anyone concur with me?

Ive looked over the wiring, no breaks that i can see but that doesnt rule out any along the way. I have a new motor im installing today, if that doesnt make a difference, ill do some more testing. Will report back later.

I cant comment much to the difference between D1/D2 wiring, on the D1 drivers door has a different connector which includes 3 additional wires for the mechanism that senses door locked/unlocked.

Personally, my passenger side door does not unlock the whole car, only the passenger side. if the alarm is set, it will go off if I just unlock the passenger door and open. This is how its worked for me since buying the car 1.5 years ago.
